BECU's "Closing for Good"

8 a.m. - Noon in All Locations

BECU is "closing for good" - a one day volunteer event to teach high schoolers smart money management.

We are putting our money where our heart is: To celebrate BECU’s 80th anniversary, we are closing our doors for part of the day on Tuesday, October 20, sending all of our employees to volunteer. All of our 42 branches will open at 1 p.m. that day, closing at normal branch hours. Telephone support, online banking and ATMs will operate normally.

On Oct. 20, BECU employees will teach financial education to high schools around the Puget Sound, sponsored by BECU and powered by the NW Credit Union Foundation. “Closing for Good” Financial Reality Fairs will reach at least 2,500 students in one day, and will allow all of our 1,300+ employees to make a difference in our communities.

What is a Closing for Good financial fair? The event teaches high school students financial literacy as they embark on their adult lives. Students experience real-life budgeting decisions people face every day. By giving teens a chance to develop skills for strong financial choices, teens can make educated saving and spending decisions.

Volunteerism has always been part of BECU; BECU has operated by the People Helping People philosophy since opening our doors 80 years ago. A big focus remains financial education – we believe helping our members and communities build solid financial foundations will serve them in all areas of their lives. As a credit union, our primary motivation is making a difference for our members and our communities. We believe our members will see Closing for Good as a representation of that commitment.
